Steps
- Fill the mug with crushed ice if you have it, cubes if you do not.
- Add the lime juice, then the can, then the ginger beer.
- Stir gently from the bottom so the lime does not sit in a layer at the base.
Why it works
A mule is really a vehicle for ginger heat, and vodka contributes almost nothing to the flavour, which is exactly why this substitution is so clean. The lemongrass in the can bridges to the ginger instead of fighting it.
